its funny - there are somethings you can do in life and its just fine and dandy. you cruise through life and just roll with the punches. sometimes the world changes around you and punches in the head. repeatedly. sometimes the punches hit you so hard you reel from it and land on your ass. you lash out. and in doing so irreversibly change the world around you. and nothing you can say or do can undo what's been done. and you wait. and you wait. and you wait. one day, i assume, you wake up and you realise you'd stopped waiting. i wonder how long that day takes to come around. i'm sure there's a fable in there somewhere. the boy that unwittingly and irreversibly changed the world around him. if nothing else its good fodder for the current Visada recordings :\ |

no 16gb iphones left at O2/CPW in Camden, Hamstead, and Finchley. Irritable enough not to head up to Kilburn to try. [1] there's really no incentive for them to make supplies available for those that qualify for free upgade. except for slightly better contractual terms as far as O2 is concerned [2] i'll have to contend with Iphone 2.0 software upgrade til supply evens out. But no update in site on itunes. [3] Aha - http://preview.tinyurl.com/iphone20firm |

Yesterday was like any other day just like today is any other day. I folded a small paper plane and wondered how far it would go before the water at its wings would render it, not fit for purpose. Needless to say the repeated lapping motions of a nearby blue tongued lizard kept the water at bay but in time, like all things before it, the little paper plane succumbed to the elements and assumed its rightful place in the hierarchy of All Gods' Things TM. Although its place was neither at the top nor the bottom, the paper plane only saw the great heights it needed to scale to reach the top. Two small children who happened to be wondering by and saw the small plane making the slow climb up the place of All Gods' Things and moved it; dislocating the forgotten little construct. "Today of all day's", declared Mary, "I shall be my own God" "Today of all day's", declared Jonas, "I'll make you my little bitch." Mary ran away. Jonas followed. Between the broken silence between the children's galloping steps the trees shuffled a little closer. By rights, no such greenery should have lived amongst the rusty vacuum that the trees occupied but in haste We held on tighter and tighter till the little drops of blood colored the sleeping landscape. "Dare we wake the Him?" "Nay", sang the chorus in reply. He turned over and the little rivers of blood stained the sands from which the trees sprung. It is here that they closed in on them. Mary and Jonas. One after the other. I watched from amongst the tree-tops. Befuddled. Lost. I screamed and screamed. But neither Mary nor Jonas heard. I kicked the trees into motion and in the distance Gabriel exhaled. Did He pay any heed? No it would seem not. The trees ensnared the little children. Their green foliage like an old man's disease ridden coat, covering a lanky body. Greased with pale whispering perspiration. All this time Mary ran and ran. Jonas ran and ran. But there - the similarities ended for Jonas was born of the trees. Rotten, if a sapling could ever be described as such. Mary of the rust colored ground. I ran my hands over the rough coverings of my perch looking for a better hand-hold. The needles and the foliages' perspiration came together. The collective breath of life quickened. Mary stopped running. Jonas ran into Mary. Mary fell over. Jonas fell over. I laughed and laughed. The air lightened akin to breathing liquid silk, as if Netjerykhet himself, poured this cursed kingdom down my aesophegus. And these fucking trees. They bore down on them. Taking me with them. Damn them all. Speaking their own cursed language and the foul intonations carried by generations of flocks that gathered around the souls of dead hopes and dreams. In my mind I set the whole place on fire. And the tourists that drove by weren't even licked by the flames. And the sand no longer stained the hands and feet of children. And the hellish rants and ravings of a mad man became songs of praise and devotion. |

Jeff Koon installation on top of the Metropolitan Musem . Rad pictures. Not as good as the bouncy balls, slightly better than the paint on the buildings ad, the new Sony Bravia Foam Ad Movie Art from 70s “pornochanchada” movies . I didn't even know this sexploitation sub-genre existed. This is rather cool - a google maps list of books set in or around London town in London [via Londonist] Over the $1000 burger at Trump Towers? Here's a $1000 sushi roll. I wonder if these uber-expensive foods actually taste any good? Or whether they're expensive for the sake of expensive as if designed by an emirate. [via Luxist] The Shittiest Comic Books like EVAH I've been a fan of Moleskin diaries and sketchbooks for sometime now, and will always carry one with me to work/meetings/long trips etc. 'Skine Art is an open contribution website for art created in Moleskin books Man gets ejected off a flight for praying. Well tehre's a little more to it than that but.... Awwww shit this fucking awesome. Zoo York and Lordz of Brooklyn collaborate on some limited edition Tees. I'm rocking Zoo York shoes at the moment, and L.O.B. have been my favourite white boi hip hop group since Saturday Night came out way back when. I'd love it if anyone could give me a heads up if they know where and when they'll be dropping. Santa Monica Pier ferris wheel is up for sale on Ebay [via Luxist] DeWitt's latest watch is Steampunk-tastic and yours for only $633,000 Book of Tori Amos songs imortalised as comics..... What do you get if you combine arm wrestling and tetris? Why Tresling of course..o_O [via Complex] Fuck Brain Academy - go to Muscle Park Suicide Colony.... Just watched Lost in Translation again. I say again, I saw it once a while ago. Bought it, shortly after it was released, but have only just managed to unwrap it. Laugh as you may, I love that movie. There's something succinctly melancholic about it, without resorting to cheap emotional trickery (ala Dancer in the Dark). Quietly hopeful not in a "vanquished the opressive overlord" sort of way, rather, a trust tribute to the intrinsic tenderness that we can display as humans, when you strip away the macho bullshit that drives modern society. In many ways, Lost in Translation, reminds me of New Years Eve, or the lead up to, where all the TV stations run those year in review type of shows. TV Dinner in hand, you can't help but watch them in the lead to christmas and New Year. I don't know about you - but it generally fills me with a similar level of, I suppose, melancholy, for lack of a better word. Another thing about this movie is the on-screen chemistry between Scarlett Johannsen and Bill Murray. You could plaster any two A-list actor, done this film, and ended up with a shite movie. I mean, let's face it- in 102 minutes NOTHING happens (my kind of movie). The interaction of the two main leads, carry this movie, in place of a more traditional device plot. Imagine it if you will, Bill Murray and say Vanessa Parridise/Helen Bonham Carter would have made for a very different movie. As would, say, Hugh Grant and Scarlertt Johannsen. The mind boggles with other abstractly discarded substitutions, which would have failed, Bradd Pitt and Kiera Knightley, Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, Sean Connery and Reese Wetherspoo, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jason Priestly. The closest on-screen pairing that I can think of that might possible work is Jamel Debbouze and Rie Rasmussen (ala Angel-A). rantrantrantrant FISH!!! here's a picture of a Dog (not mine)

This Wired article talks about a non-profit effort to produce descriptive porn for the blind. I imagine the theory goes something like this. Happiness breeds contentment. Contentment breeds complacency. Complacency breeds inactivity. Inactivity is the pre-cursor to death right? This $2 million pound house [via NY Times may require login] is built with one thing in mind. Delaying an early death by making it uncomfortable as shit. Dunno but I think it looks rather cool - like a giant adult ball crawl sans the balls. America's most expensive zip codes? Godfather poster rendered using the entire script [via NoCot] TripIt.com is infinitely more useful than dopplr.com Itinerary management and sharing. I love the "Just forward your travel confirmation emails to" getting started process. Bye Bye dopplr.com This may not seem all that clever or revolutionary. But the glowing showerhead is rather cool I can see how that might work. Reprogrammable tattoos? [via Complex Magazine] Luxist talking about a new apple based Vodka. Can't be any worse than that grass Vodka... Notcot coming atcha with some bad ass scoops - including tis Courvoisier and LRG branded iPhone. Back in the day, when Am currently working on an EC2 & S3 project for some US Government Department with some ex-colleagues at LBI. This Scalr auto-provisioning framework might be what we need. Not all that interesting but I'm a data vis/stats junkie.... I hate it when "academics" start talking smack - I'll do an analysis some other time. As soon as I fire up Google Write. *snigger* |
